Best. Episodes. Ever (Part 1 of 5)
What do you think the best Simpsons episodes ever actually are? There's lots of surveys around, but over the next 5 days I'll be releasing (in no particular order) my thoughts on the top 5 Simpsons episodes.
I've probably forgotten some, but there are 5 episodes that really stand out to me as being a cut above the rest:
Cape Feare:
Where else can you find the entire score from the HMAS Pinafore in a cartoon? Sideshow Bob is paroled from prison and vows to kill Bart. He writes anonymous letters to Bart in blood, and the Simpsons join the witness protection programme and move to Cape Feare as the Thompsons, living on a houseboat. Sideshow Bob boards the housebart, ties up the rest of the family and is about to kill Bart, but Bart requests that Bob sing the entire score of The HMS Pinafore. By the time the musical is finished, the boat has drifted downstream into the waiting arms of the police.
Best quotes/scenes
- Cheif Wiggum "Sideshow bob has no decency. He called me Chief Piggum." (Courtroom laughs) "Oh, now I get it. That's good."
- Sideshow Bob "No, that's German for "The Bart, The"
- Sideshow Bob "The following neighbourhood residents will not be killed by me tonight. Ned Flanders, Maude Flanders, Homer Simpson, Marge Simpson, Lisa Simpson, that little baby Simpson. That is all."
- Bart "I'll be Gus, the lovable chimney sweep, clean as a whistle, sharp as a thistle, best in all Westminster, yeah!"
- Homer learning to be Mr Thompson
- Homer "Hey kids, wanna drive through that cactus patch" (with Sideshow Bob underneath the car)
- Homer (yelling and bursting into the room) "BART YOU WANNA SEE MY NEW CHAINSAW AND HOCKEY MASK?"
- The rake scene
- Cheif Wiggum "Bake him away, toys"

1 Comments:
That is a good episode. There are just too many for me to pick 5.
Season 8 has now come out on DVD but only in the limited edition maggie head and not the box set yet.
