Media Player
One of the great features of Windows Media Player (and probably other media players also) is its ability to track how many times you have listened to each piece of media. Coupled with an Excel spreadsheet I have designed, I am now able to produce a very wide range of statistics in relation to my music-listening habits. While I admit that this is very nerd-like, it is actually quite interesting to watch how various songs rise and fall through the rankings.
Here are some basic stats. From 10 October 2005 to 14 September 2006:
- I have listened to 266 different songs, with 2,151 total plays.
- I have spent in total 6 days, 2 hours, 19 minutes and 1 second listening.
- The average song length is 4 minutes 5 seconds.
- 8 unique songs have held the number 1 position in the top ten.
- 49 different songs have made it into the top ten.
- 5 diferent artists have had number one songs (Evanescence x 3, Missy Higgins x 2, DC Talk x 1, Paul Colman Trio x 1, Vanessa-Mae x 1).
